When it comes to your babies, you have to be careful with what you put on their skin. Unfortunately lots of baby creams and lotions contain toxic ingredients that can do more harm than good.

Here is an excellent green and non-toxic diaper rash cream recipe, courtesy of Sara of MyMerryMessyLife.com:

The Recipe
  • 1 cup organic, raw unrefined shea butter
  • 1/2 cup organic, raw coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp. pastilles or bar
  • 3 tbsp. zinc oxide powder
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable glycerine or aloe vera gel (optional, for added nutrients and skin protection)

How to Make It In a double boiler (or just a small pan inside a larger pan) with water in the bottom of the larger pan, place the shea butter, beeswax, and coconut oil in the top pan and bring to a boil. Leave in the pan long enough to melt all the shea butter and beeswax (5 minutes or less).

We have all experienced it. A baby shower invitation or announcement comes in the mail. We’re so excited that we finally have an excuse to look down the cute baby aisles in our favorite superstore! We speed over, prepared to choose the perfect gift for the little angel! The excitement stops almost as soon as we arrive. We see nothing unique or special that is “gift-worthy.” We get pushed out of the way by frustrated moms and dads rushing down the aisles grabbing necessities for their toddlers. There are big crowds. The coolest items are out of stock. The prices are ridiculously high. This has trip has turned into a nightmare! Why didn’t I just shop online? There are wonderful stores on the internet that make shopping for baby easy – and they have adorable merchandise!

Since I started shopping online, I have found lots of unique gifts for babies and toddlers. For the young couple who are lots of fun and a bit edgy, I got a cute one-piece romper with a tattoo-style heart on it. I chose a comfy, cute, high chair cover (which is also a shopping cart cover!) for the jet setting family with the new addition. I was stumped when I got an invitation from the couple who were expecting their third girl and had everything they needed, including clothes. For this little sweetie, I found a darling diaper cover embroidered with a heart pattern and personalized with her name. At the same website, I bought her two sisters the cutest “Big Sister” t-shirts!

So before you even start planning where to shop, decide to forego the trip to the local superstore. Shopping online for these baby gifts didn’t break the bank, they’re adorable, and everyone loved them. Not bad for an afternoon surfing the internet in my pajamas!
